Buying Lingerie Online: 3 things to keep in mind

Buying intimate apparel online can seem intimidating: there are nearly infinite options, and seemingly infinite unknowns. As someone who sells bras online at A Thing of Beauty Lingerie, it’s important to me to simplify this process as much as possible.

In “The Ultimate Guide to Buying a Bra Online”, on forbes.com (http://bit.ly/2lPZpS0) contributor Vanessa Grady discusses her experience with bra buying online. She observes that there is more privacy and less pressure to buy than in a store, which can be comforting to the customer. She also makes note of the challenges that she has experienced, from unexpected rhinestones to monthly subscription fees.

Elizabeth Dale, author of The Bra Zone: How to Find Your Ideal Size, Style, and Support, and bOObs: A Guide to Your Girls has written an article on her website, The Breast Life http://www.thebreastlife.com called How to Buy Lingerie Online (http://bit.ly/2mEy8kG) an excellent set of do’s and don’ts for those looking online for lingerie. She discusses how access to certain styles and brands may be limited in boutiques near you, making online shopping an advantage, as well as the convenience of being able to shop from one’s home.

Here are three key considerations to take away from both articles:

  • Read the return policy – you do not want to buy an item of lingerie without having tried it on in person only to discover that getting an exchange of refund if it doesn’t fit is a hassle, or, worse yet, impossible. Look for whether return shipping is covered.
  • Take the time to browse – there are a lot of lingerie stores selling online. There is something for everyone, but not necessarily on every site. Don’t settle, keep looking for something you love. It’s out there.
  • Take your measurements at the time of purchase – breasts change size and shape throughout the month and throughout the life. Furthermore, no two bra brands size exactly the same, so knowing what to look for in a new brand is crucial.

Keep these points in mind when shopping for lingerie online, and you greatly expand the options that you have available.
